Paper in many forms is accepted in the Curb It! Recycling program; even after it’s been shredded. Keep these things in mind before you cause a paper trail in your neighborhood!

Limit the amount you are shredding

Although shredded paper is recyclable, it is more valuable when the paper is in larger pieces. Try to limit shredding to only documents and mail containing personal information. If you are worried about your address on junk mail or envelopes, simply black it out with a marker before tossing it in.

Contain it

To avoid covering your yard with shredded paper confetti it must be enclosed in a paper sack or cereal box; never a plastic bag. The recycling sorting process can’t capture the tiny pieces of paper, and plastic bags send recycling to the trash.

Don’t feel like shredding?
